about t.scudiero

t.scudiero (tee skood air oh) is Tony Scudiero.

A Family Tradition (of sorts):

I hail from a long family history of photographers. My grandfather was an amature photographer in the 1950s and 1960s, long before the standard 35mm film format became prevelant. My father was an avid 35mm photographer: we had a color-capable darkroom in my basement of the house where I grew up. I picked up the torch in the new generation with digtal photography.

You're a Photographer?

My formal education is in mathematics, computer science, and psychology. I think we all have a dream of doing something totally other than what we grew up thinking we'd do. I'm living my dream.

Ok, but a Wedding Photographer?

Honestly, I never would have thought so either. About the time of my sister's wedding (2005) I realized that weddings, not just the ceremony, but the whole day, are something I truly enjoy working on, planning, and being part of. It's a huge turning point in many lives, an emotional crossroads, and I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy being there for it with a camera or three in hand.

From the mouths of past clients:

About my photographs: Wonderful, beautiful, fantastic, great, nice, caught ever last detail, got everything, awesome, how did you get that shot?

About me: Paparazzi (from several clients in fact), fun, energetic, enthusiastic, personable, dedicated, crazy, he's everywhere, fantastic, crazy*, where did you come from?

*Are you actually crazy?

A better word would be zealous. People think I'm crazy just because I've ended up hanging from trees and ledges or past my knees in a lake to get a better shot. I'm willing to suffer for my art! So maybe I'm just the right amount of crazy.

Capture, not Create.

Hey, that's right! That's my modus operandi. You make your day beautiful, I capture that beauty on film (well a digital sensor anyway). Outside of the requisite formals/group shots, I rarely put people into canned poses. I'd rather be a fly on the wall and let you be who you really are (unfortunately good lenses are too heavy for the average fly, so I'm stuck being who I am). I'd rather capture you than create someone else. I believe that the degree to which a photograph captures and conveys the essence of a subject far exceeds any technical measure of a photograph. I can make epic photographs that make you look like someone you're not, or I can capture merely beautiful photographs of you as you are. I have a strong affinity for the latter.
