2009-09-19 - Brianna & John

I'm on a boat! Six days after the engagement session, on one of the most fabulous days of the year (as far as weather goes) Brianna and John got married on a boat on lake Minnetonka. We did their first sight and formals in downtown Minneapolis first, then hopped on a bus out to the docks in Mound, MN. Among the best things about shooting on a boat, is having the captain move the sun for me. Ok, technically it was reorienting the boat to the sun, but the ability to control where the sun is relative to my ground context is a new power to me. Brianna and John's small wedding was a fabulous time and a very true, very heart filling day of celebration!

2009-09-13 - Brianna & John Engagement

Brianna and John are without a doubt the shortest notice wedding I've ever done. Brianna called me about 2 weeks before their date, we met about 10 days out, and six days before their wedding we met for an engagement session at the Stone Arch Bridge for a very early AM session. Note to self: early on a Sunday morning you can have the stone arch bridge all to yourself. I will concede, finally, that one of the shots here is actually from their engagement book, but after processing it and doing edge effects this one became one of my favorites from a great session.

2009-10-12 - October Snow & Ducky

I know I'm behind on my normal postings, but I wanted to take a moment to share my morning with everyone. It's October 12th and snowing like crazy. The leaves are still on most of the trees, and it's snowing. So I grabbed my camera and snapped a few. I was also commissioned (with food) to do an artistic shot of a rubber ducky for a friend. I took the Duck with me on my short walk.

2009-09-12 - Amy & Pat

I absolutely love it when people make their wedding their own. With Amy and Pat, where do I start? Pat, from a hunting family, and all his men wore camo vests and ties and wore boutineers made with empty shotgun shells. Their getaway vehicle was an old-school Mustang, but their wedding party followed them in an equally old Shasta RV. At one point there was a fancy party bus right in front of the Shasta, and I wondered if there was going to be an epic game of chicken! Amy and Pat are an amazing couple who really know how to have a good time. There are so many great photos and amazing moments from this wedding it's hard to pick just 10. Congratulations Amy and Pat!

2009-08-29 - Brianna & Brian

ROAD TRIP! The metro is great and I love living and working here, but it is my love of Duluth, the North Shore, and the North Woods that really ties me to this state. Thus, when Brianna and Brian asked me to shoot their wedding in Duluth, I was quite excited. On an unusually cold August 29th (a throwback, perhaps to their January 3rd engagement session), they were married at Enger Tower Park in Duluth. For all the times I've been to Duluth I'd never been there. It's a fantastic park. It started raining, not pouring, but more than a drizzle too, just before the ceremony - but that didn't dampen spirits! Ultimately, I think it actually added something to a day that was already filled with wonderful moments for two great families. The best man's speech involved a book he made entitled "Things a husband should not do." In that, I learned that it's hard to take pictures when you're laughing. I thank Brianna & Brian profusely for bringing me up to Duluth to for their big day and wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
